2015: Lions Of the Kgalagadi

Unread post by imgreg » Fri Jan 02, 2015 6:48 pm

I was following this Lion for a few days around Rooiputs and he ended up in Kij-kij.
First day he was hungry and tired.
Second day bloated and fat but struggling to get back to Kij-Kij for water.
Third day he was sleeping the entire day. He got up at around 7pm and tried to drink some water.
He then came and dropped next to my Vehicle. His jaw is "skew" and he looks tired.
I would be very surprised if he carries on like this ?
First post so will attempt the pics.
NOPE, guess i must read the how to page

So finally I can post seems like the size was an issue (800)
This Lion was very tired and seemed to struggle even to get some water.
Maybe 40 degrees in the shade was the cause ? Any idea of his name and age ?
Thanks all the people that helped with posting.
I will add the lioness with some cubs also near Rooiputs

I am sure we saw some of these Lions particularly the male at Nossob waterhole. We saw him on the 5th Jan and he had a slight limp.

Seen 50 km from Nossob

Young ones lying so close to the road we could not fit the whole body into the picture. 40km from Mata Mata.

We have just return from KTP.

We were lucky to watch a Lioness stalk and chase Wilderbeest. She was after the young ones.
She chase them for almost a kilometer hoping one would trip, I'm assuming.

Great cub shot Roelf! Lovely to see the sleeping lions Lion Queen! It's always amazing to see how quick the lions will be awakened if something changes in the neighbourhood.....
