I think the leopard cub in my KTP leopard galley is Jannie. I'm not sure though. The images of this cub were made in January 2008, would that be the right timeframe?

Cool photos madach. Thanx! Yes,this is Jannie. He was 10 months old then. He must be 3 years old now!

If anyone has any recent photos of Jannie, Kruiper or any other leopard, please post here.

As already promised quite a few times now I am finally ready to post pictures of the leopard male with which we spent one of the best 3 hours in our lifes    on the 21.02.2009 between 1 and 4 o’clock in the afternoon between Batulama and Gemsbokplein. Mom was on the other side of the Auob river bed and finally he joined her

Besides the whiskers he is easily to identify on the small cut in his left ear.

Would be great to hear some news from him!

Edited - Pumbaa's leopard is the Auchterlonie Male, leopard no. 3.11(Historical leopards) in the ID Guide(04042014).

Thanx Pumbaa! :D  He is gorgeous! He has quite a distinct spot pattern around both eyes - good to know the spot pattern as sometimes it is very difficult to get good pix of the whisker pattern. Cuts in ears are also good to know, but he might end up getting a few more cuts as time goes by, as he was a very young male when you saw him. So - a new Batulama leopard! However, when he left mom, he would have been looking for his own territory, so it will be interesting to see where he is spotted next!

Hope we do hear more about him on this thread!

Hi..we saw Maja on 31 March 2010 in the tree at Houmoed. Unbelievable as we were sat in the car under tree and did not even notice her in the tree at first. It was day one of our trip and we were still getting our game spotting eyes in place.

Hi Pikasso
I have left our leopard sighting till last and soon will be posting pics in my trip report.
Of the HUNDREDS I have of Maja and her cubs I thought I was not successful in getting them all in one pic.
However, after going through my unedited disc I eventually came across this one that has ended up in a file 'to be deleted'.
I'm now pleased that i did not delete it as it is the one and only showing her with both cubs!!
Many more to follow after the long weekend :D

Here are two pics of two young leopards photographed near Houmoed in June 2010. The one I call Number 12 as you can see a number 12 above its left eye. The other photo is a bit further and in shade which shows the two siblings together. There is speculation that they may be Maja's kids.

Edited - Tourareg's post - No. 12, leopard no. 3.4(Historical leopards) in the ID Guide, Twin, leopard no. 4.1(Deceased Individuals) in the ID Guide(04042014).

@Touareg - a lovely sighting! :mrgreen: :thumbs_up:

I think there is a very strong possibility that they are Maja's cubs. They are in her home range(Houmoed is one of her favourite areas), and there have been no other reports of another female leopard with 2 cubs!

Well this is the beautiful leopard that entertained us for quite some time late afternoon during June 2009 at the Samevloeiing waterhole near TR. I am not sure if it is male or female? It seems to be fairly young! It has rarther destinct markings above the left eye (something like three triangular dots touching one another followed by two spots close to one another) and dark "eye shadow" behind the right eye! (almost as if has an eye injury)

Well I do hope someone can ID this beauty! (Thank you for the help with the upload!!)

Edited - Kruiper, leopard no. 3.3 in the ID Guide(04042014).

Hi Fotomaljohan!

Lovely sighting and pix!
I believe your young leopard is Kruiper - the only surviving cub of the TR female(Maja)'s second litter. She is a real beauty! When you saw her she was 11months/1 year old.

Check the following link for a close-up pic of her face:

Kgalagadi leopard identification

Unread post by Bushbuddies » Fri Aug 20, 2010 9:57 pm

We saw this leopard - I think it was a female - on our trip in July a hundred metres or so from Auchterlonie picnic site.

Image

Unfortunately we couldn't get any close-ups. She did not seem to like attention all that much...

Edited: Nico's leopard - Kanna, leopard no. 1.33 in the ID Guide(04042014).

Fantastic sighting and video Nico!
Can you please freeze frame(screen capture) some of the close-ups of the left and right side of her face, and put them on this thread - for future ID purposes for the young Union's End female leopard. Hopefully we will be able to follow her life story with the help of the forumites. Thanx! :D
