Crocodile Bridge is a wonderful camp
And close to the fence loads of animals tramp
today, it could be a hyena
Or tomorrow something meaner
But when it rains, it becomes rather damp

Summer, the season of rain and heat
and the predators prowl the baby beat
"Beware" warns mom impala
otherwise you'll end up in the lap of Allah
Nothing more than a tasty treat

Twas the night before christmas and along came a genet
Scared the diplomacy out of most of the senate
They scattered hither and thither
As the genet strummed on her zither

Twas' the night before Christmas and the ellies were running amok
When along came a hyena wearing a frock
The ellies were overcome with awe
They'd not seen such a sight before
And they all keeled over with the shock

Good King Leo looked for a feast of wildebeest
Or a giraffe, or an impala, or a warthog, at least
He spotted a kudu
And said "Stand still, would you"
Cos I fancy a kudu haunch for my Christmas feast

A trio with crowns is our avatar
Hunting for dinner
Perhaps a juicy Berliner?
We're waiting for you to get out of your car

There once was a young baboon
Who decided to jump over the moon
But the moon was so high
He started to cry
And capered round like a loon

There was a young man who was leaving
His wife whose chest was gently heaving
"Please stay" she begged
"I feel my heart has been unpegged"
" I'm confused and totally disbelieving"

The festive season bathed in cheer
All waiting expectantly of the brand new year
Celebrate with a brandy or a beer
And a steak from a juicy, young steer
It's a new start, the slate is wiped clear

Sun has risen on 2014's first new day
I wish I was staying on a river or a bay
But to work I must hasten
My heart it's a-racin'
to all that it must be facin'
You might get me out of the bush, but you won't get the bush out of me, it's deep in my heart

The leopard is taking a catnap in the marula tree
And nothing disturbs, not even a banshee
Though if baboons venture near
It might flick its ear
And consume an impala sandwich with brie

Out popped a baby giraffe
Stood on spindly legs and had a good laugh
It waggled its tail
In the seasonal gail
and the tourist camera went snappy
You might get me out of the bush, but you won't get the bush out of me, it's deep in my heart

The finch built a nest
A gale came up as it was stressed
deeper into the shrub it crept
all alone it just wept
As it had tried to do its very best

A giggling hyena called Hester
Fell over laughing at a Warthog Called Chester
She chuckled with mirth
As Chester gave birth
Saying "you would not expect that from a 'mister" ......
