The bird doesn't sing because it has answers, it sings because it has a song.

Hi all,
My brother and I just returned from spending 4 nights at Lower Sabie. The sightings were average until the 3rd day when we hit the jackpot with fantastic sightings of the elusive spotted one. We took many photos, of which some appear here. I hope you enjoy them as much as we did taking them. Man, I just love Kruger!!!

Hi Everyone,

Not sure if this is the correct thread for my question but what is the Sanparks' policy on the sale of photos taken in their parks. If I have taken a photo in Kruger (for example), can I sell it or do all the rights belong to Sanparks? I know that they couldn't possibly know that a close up of a bird was taken in one of their parks but when it comes to identifiable animals (perhaps big bull elephants) or landscapes these are a different matter.

As I understand it, if you go into any of the parks with the express intention of taking photographs to sell, then you must purchase a permit.

If you go into any of the parks as a vacation and take a photo that you later think you may be able to sell then that is incidental to your holiday/vacation and is deemed personal use, even if you later enter it for a competition or sell it.

You can find some information here with some useful contacts and we have had a discussion about this before if you have a look through this forum.

Thanks, Saraf. Quite a lot of legalese to go through - I'll try to find the discussions on the forum, might make it a bit clearer to me.
