Photo Theme: Birds in Flight

Unread post by TheunsH » Mon Jan 18, 2010 3:19 pm

I don't know if there is already a thread like this and if so, please move this thread.

I have read trip reports with great photos of birds in flight. On this thread we can post our photos of flying birds.

I will start off...This photo was taken on the S125 during our July 2009 visit to Kruger:

Here are a few of my attempts taken with a canon 100-400 and a nikon 80-400 using the advise given by members on this forum, these are not ideal BIf lenses so not as sharp as the primes.

I'm very much an amateur photographer, but I like this thread and thought I'd go ahead and post up a couple of neat photos I took of a Martial Eagle during our Kruger trip in July of 2008:

I took these pictures looking out of the sun roof of our rented car.

The bird doesn't sing because it has answers, it sings because it has a song.

Seagulls are common, well they are where I live, but they're such good fliers and so fearless that more often than not they make good subjects.

These are all totally amazing - I just got my DSLR last year with a Sigma 120-400mm and catching bird in flight is a real challenge. Where can I get some good tips? This is the best I could get on our trip to Kgalagadi last year

It's taken me awhile to be able to get BIF photos but, have been practicing on the Cormorants, Egyptian Geese, Herons and Kingfishers at TB Dam at The Pretoria Campus of Tswane University of technology. Practice makes perfect

Some awesome pics posted here. I'm a real beginner but quite liked this one taken at Buffel's Bay in January.
