The isinkwe clan go KgalagadiParking

Unread post by isinkwe » Mon Mar 20, 2017 4:51 pm

Well , some of the clan anyway , pity it was not the whole clan , but sometimes work interferes :wall:

The plan (very cleverly and well thought out by myself :D )

The younger members of the clan to arrive at Twee Riveren before us older members. Us (morecat and I ) from Vereeniging and the others from East London ( South Africa's East London)
The youngsters were overnighting in Upington and we were overnighting in Kuruman - all good , they were much closer to KTP than we were -
The instruction - get there early , find a nice campsite , set camp and when we arrive , I shall have a cold beer or three while giving instruction on how to set our tent up.
So much for that , nowhere even close to KTP and my brilliant plan was already going wrong. I received a phone call at 7.30 pm in the evening while in Kuruman from the East London bunch.
I suspect that their sudden change in plans may be my fault in a way :D
We will get back to that story / excuse  a bit later.

Be that as it may , morecat and I headed off to KTP on our own.

Now , there is someone employed in the Northern Cape roads and signs department with a wicked sense of humour and must have been rolling around in the vegetation as we drove past this sign. If I found him , I would most likely have shared a beer or two with him while laughing at the other motorists going by.

Image

I really wanted to see this " red sand" but with the booking made 11 months before , who knew ?

Still no red sand that everyone talks about :wall:

Image

Getting better , a bit of red sand

Image

no red sand ?

Image

At this stage I was wondering if we were headed in the correct direction
a bit more of this red sand :D things are looking a bit more promising :D

Image

Finally we arrived at the gate , firsts things first , try the red sand out Image

Image

awesome Image

morecat and I have eventually arrived at Twee Riveren for the very first time - ImageImage

So lets get back to what kept the rest of the clan /tent erectors from getting there before us Image
Isn't it just amazing how potatoes give us fries and vodka? :D The rest of the vegetables should get their act together :D

Did you see this Fun Time

Looking forward to this TR.

We were also in search for the red dunes in KTP. At times I was very muddled as to where I was as the park was spattered with beautiful flowers and the animals were grazing in the very green valleys.
