Kgalagadi January 2017 - a photo tale

Unread post by zuppi » Tue Feb 28, 2017 10:17 pm

I'm going to start this 'Travel Tales' thread after having published a short one about a special day during my recent trip:
https://www.sanparks.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=97556
But this one will be boring, at least if you want to read stories. Because I'm a amateur photographer and not a storyteller  . So my story will be told by pictures...

So lets start:

Kgalagadi ahead!

First sighting (well almost first)

Of course, Kgalagadi is known to be full of birds of prey... and did not disappoint:

I think this is a Gabon Goshawk !?

Already on the first day a (very tired) lion:

and a African Wildcat with kittens:

AWC with kittens is certainly not boring. :D

Lovely images of the KTP raptors and what gorgeous owls.

I am pleased that you decided to write another report. I am right on board.

Next day, the first 'thing' that crossed the path of my ever searching lens, was a raptor on top of a weavers nest:
20170118_181313_south_africa_269.jpg

Then I had to stop for a 'family' of tortoises crossing the street... in a more disciplined way than my children do

Next station was a group of fluffy teenage ostriches

I'm also interested in the smaller of things:
20170119_083236_south_africa_417.jpg

You wonder how I got this low angle of view? Well I admit, I was out of the car, lying on the ground  But before you call the rangers...the photograph was taken in the picknik area of Melkvlei
