It seems Arks is still with us :D
Received the following message from her last night – she was in Skukuza:

Arks wrote: Spent my afternoon with 3 lazy lions on S114 – I was there for 2 1/2 hrs and they were about 15 meters from my car!! 8)
En-route to Hazyview I saw 6-7 hyenas, bushbuck, lots playful dwarf mongoose and a Fish Eagle

bert wrote:Or the lions werent that far away the next time she met them

Received this message this morning:

Arks wrote:Tell Bert the S114 seems to be good for lions just now. The people next to me here had a lioness walking alongside their car …. could have touched her!…..and a big male a bit farther away, also on the S114
Off now to Biyamiti via Pretoriuskop and S65….wonder whether it will deliver something special?

Ok, I have to run and get a few things sorted….will give a report of our skottel brekkie meet on Monday
Freda, see you tonight in “snake alley”….

The bird doesn't sing because it has answers, it sings because it has a song.

O MM, we also missed you! :(

We had a nice skottel brekkie Saturday morning at Afsaal . It was really great to meet Arks! :D

Here is an SMS I received from her on Saturday night – was her last night at Biyamiti:

Arks wrote:Just got back from a great night drive with Benjy aka Baby Ben.
Saw Fiery-necked nightjar, 3 Puff Adders, kudu and 6 rinho!!
Also had a fiery sunset, lots of lighting and a bit of rain.
The others who’d booked (for the night drive) didn’t turn up so I had a private drive. Benjy is very knowledgeable and entertaining. Definitely the best drive I’ve had, even without that elusive leopard.
I’ve never really seen a nightjar before and I have video of this one :D

Last night Arks, Freda and Graemy & SO had a braai at Lower Sabie. Arks also met Kath and Theo who spotted her yellow ribbon – they were on their way for a night drive

I received some news from Arks.

Seems as though she had car problems while she was in Lower Sabie. :(
While being escorted back from Skukuza to LS at night, she saw yet another leopard.
The next day, travelling to Crocodile Bridge to collect another car, she saw cheetah 1.5km outside CB. Later on the S30 she saw a big herd of ellies with lots of small ones and then SABLE!!! :D She was able to see them quite well and spent about 20 min with them before both laid down with only the horns visible.
She’s also been charged by another ellie.

At Lower Sabie she stayed in a new riverfront bungalow ….says it is not so close to nature as the tents but baboon proof.

She is currently in Talamati. I received a message from her this morning… she was at Satara and had starlings that tried to share her croissant
She hasn’t had major sightings yesterday or today…just lots of ellies (4 herds) and lots of giraffe.

Arks is spending her last night in Kruger. She booked an extra night in #39 at Tamboti before she flies to London tomorrow night.
Her SMS says:
It's a gorgeous starry night here but very chilly. I've used all my extra braai wood for a blazing fire & I've a little white gecko that is catching some monster flying insects - kill in tent 39  My time has flown by far too quickly & I've never had a KNP day that hasn't had something interesting - every day brings surprises. Can't wait for next time!

Send my best wishes to her!
I hope she will have a safe journey home.
It is always hard to spend that last night.
It all sounded as if she had an incredible time in Kruger.
And by the time she is back home she can already start to plan the next Kruger trip.
Looking forward to her reports and pics.

Geat variety Arks, it was nice meeting you in Cape Town.
Whatever (according to BB): "You are correct but I don't want to admit it".
