Dear Meandering mouse, Umtali, Hilda, Pumbaa and Vlakvarksegat,

Thanks for the appreciation!

Model legs indeed, Meandering mouse. Elegance in pure dynamics!

The dunes are enticing, Umtali, they make the pictures and the memories, especially, a pure joy!

Ostriches on the road, in a row, moving towards us, Hilda and Pumbaa, we cannot get tired of it.

Vultures, always truly marvelous!

Vlakvarksegat, welcome on board! great to have you here!

Cheers
Charbel

Dear 'mites,
It's really hard to be for such a long time away from the forums. Work has been incredibly immersive in the last weeks, and also I had many trips. Thus, a long delay.

Anyway, I am back here and ready for a posting for the KTP TR.

One of the nice things in KTP is to see so many Ostriches. They were common indeed, and sometimes we might get tired of them. But, on the other hand, they were quite active and often we could meet them doing interesting things, urging for us to take pictures and film them...

In the Aoub River bed, June 5th 2013, four female ostriches calmly walking against the astonishing scenario!

Image

While some walk - again in the Aoub river - some ostriches would show us their awesome dance...

Image

Here is a detail of these dancing queens. It is not a great pic, admittedly. But the scene speaks for itself, reminiscent of animations like the ones made by Disney. What an opportunity to see something like this in nature!

Image

A male ostrich crossing the road, in full vitality! They can thus remember us how powerful they are.

Image

A male ostrich in all its splendour. Look at the powerful thigh muscle. And yet despite all the power, what an elegance!

Image

And to finish with our ostrich journey for the day, this pic is more about landscape, this breathtaking scenes of KTP, with ostriches as an additional prize.

Image

Cheers
Charbel

At least you can escape from your heavy workload by sharing your experiences of KTP

Love the ostriches. It seems someone has choreographed a ballet especially for them. Very elegant

The bird doesn't sing because it has answers, it sings because it has a song.

Dear Umtali, Meandering Mouse and Hilda,

Thanks! It was really amazing to see how active the ostriches were in KTP, even dancing!

It is really nice to have the counterpoint of the TRs amidst the heavy working load. Also, there will be some years (3-4) before I come back with the whole family. Thus, the TRs are also ways of quenching the thirsty with the nice memories...

I will do a posting now in the KTP TR dedicated to the amazing Northern Black Korhaans.

Cheers
Charbel

Dear 'mites

One of the greatest things in KTP, as you all know, is to go up to the dunes. The dunes roads take us to an almost alien territory. Everything looks different, sounds different, tastes different... There a usual sighting is the Northern Black Korhaan, so interesting and beautiful, strolling among the plants, all around in the red dunes...

Image

Image

Its silky black and white head plumage is striking.

Image

I couldn't resist a close-up of the intricate pattern of the wing feathers.

Image

That's it for the moment... My next posting will be in the TR for the second trip to KNP, soon, today probably.

Cheers
Charbel

I really do enjoy seeing the birds seldom seen in our area.
