Excellent :cam: of the heron with catch, Jan
I agree, those Fish Eagles have mastered the act to steal fish from the herons.

Well, at Lake Panic, it is not always what is going on outside the hide, but also what is inside
This Mozambican Spitting Cobra apparently made his way from one side of the hide to the other while people were watching the birds and then one lady saw it while making its way passed her feet and just sat dead still.
So, when one enters a hide - always be on the lookout for some 'dangerous guests' or are they the residents.... and we the guests... :hmz: :D

The Heron will have to make several more catches like that for a proper meal! Beautiful image Jan!

What a big Cobra Kaapsedraai! I don't know if I would have been able to sit still while he is passing at my feet!

OH GOOD GRIEF

Kaapsedraai, my BIGGEST FEAR is snakes in the bird hides. A perfect spot for them and I always enter a hide, if we are the only people there, with such caution and cast a beady eye over the floor.....and now you show it will come along even when full of people..........   I am going to be watching my feet quite often from now on

Great photo by the way.......
