Poacher caught in /Ai/Ais-Richtersveld Transfrontier Park

Unread post by Imberbe » Wed Sep 08, 2010 11:56 pm

During a recent combined counter poaching patrol on the Orange River by SANParks staff and staff from the Namibian side of the Transfrontier Park, a poaching camp was discovered and a poacher was caught. Two other poachers escaped. Some 1000 fish (barbell, yellow fish, kurper, mud fish and grass carp), a gill net, a fibreglass canoe and various other poaching tools were confiscated. The poacher was handed over to police.

The poaching patrol was made possible by the donation of two boats by the SANParks Honorary Rangers: West Rand region. Regular patrols will be held in the future to prevent further poaching in this area.

Great news! Well done SANParks!
