Hi Guys

We shot this flower/fruit of a medium sized tree found along the Sand River in the Western Soutpansburg (Southern side):

It is the flower of the Ochna pulchra (Peeling-Bark Ochna / Lekkerbreek).

It is a beautiful plant, but a slow grower. As the Afrikaans name implies, it has very brittle stems, which snap with a wonderful breaking sound.
Imberbe = Combretum imberbe = Leadwood = Hardekool = The spirit of the Wildernis!

Oh Okay, looked kinda familiar to its relation, the so-called Micky Mouse Bush (Ochna serrulata), but I never made the connection (maybe the size difference).

On the other hand I don't even recall that distinctive bark of the Ochna's.

Thanks Imberbe
