Invader or not?

Unread post by Stoffel » Sun Sep 24, 2017 12:04 pm

We noticed a plant around Satara - especially between the camp entrance and the bridge over the Shitsakana (south of the camp) and also along some areas of the S90. I don't know whether we were unobservant in the past, but this seems to me like some or other invader species. It was normally very easy to see the plains game on the plains south of the camp, but this "invader" is really blocking one's view now. The very thin pods are full of small seeds, making spreading rather easy. Or am I wrong with my assumption of an invader?

If no one can say for sure, I will ask Kruger's alien plant guys.

Whatever it is :hmz: sure is invading the view.
Will be interesting to see the answer to this
Isn't it just amazing how potatoes give us fries and vodka? :D The rest of the vegetables should get their act together :rtm:

Reply received:

Dear Dalene

The pictures are not that clear but it looks like Sesbania bispinosa var. bispinosa which according to the latest SANBI list has been classified as a naturalised species.

I will ask for more pictures from colleagues who will be travelling around Satara area.

Thank you
- Dalene
