Blue Duiker are quite common along the Natal coast - we even have them occasionally visit our garden here in Amanzimtoti.

Diet-wise – similar to Grey Duiker, they just love to browse on rose leaves – we have experienced this quite often.

I agree with “deefstes“ that they have only two gears – stationary and flat-out – that’s why we don’t have photos of them in our garden. They always surprise us with their presence at the most un-expected times and then there is no chance of going for a camera.

On a visit to the Dlinza Forest two weeks ago I spotted my first Blue Duiker in the wild - they are soo tiny. not much bigger than my cat! These two were so relaxed, they were almost under our feet. A very special sighting!

Lovely picture Naomi

I must admit, the tiny size completely floored me.

Does anyone know, how would the Suni comapre in terms of size?

Blue Duiker

Hi All,

I'm keen to know if anybody has spotted any Blue Duiker in KNP recently? I've heard rumours of recent sightings in the Balule area.

I've never spotted one of these tiny antelope in KNP. If they are to be found in KNP they they'll be a new addition to my December wish list.
To see a sunrise in KNP is to see magic.

In the Balule area?

I thought they were forest antelope.
Have seen them a few times on the Natal north coast.
Never heard of them in Kruger? :hmz:

The only blue Duiker that I have ever seen was in Natal. I do think they shy away in forest territory.

I once saw a Sharpe's close to Balule, rather far south for these little antelope.
