Hello! Different student than the pangolin girl, same project. I am working on an online field guide of East African Mammals. I have searched the internet for an answer to my question, but I just can't seem to find it.

Can any of you tell me the etymology of the dwarf moongoose's scientific name, Helogale Paruvula? Thank you!

All I could find so far was:

parvula - from the Latin, parvus, meaning little.

And ~gale is Greek, meaning weasel. Usually the "helo" prefix refers to marsh/meadow (helos, also Greek), but somehow that just doesn't seem to fit in this case. :?
Don't you just love them tuskers? 8)

After last nights rain, and a day of complete cloud cover I was lucky enough to see this chap and his family stick their heads out to catch the setting sun.
