Photographed this fine specimen north of Letaba on the H1-6 during my June trip. He was part of a medium sized herd. For me, he has an almost perfect set of horns.

This buffalo bull with a very nice set of horns and boss, was photographed at Nkaya Pan during my Oct 2012 trip.

I remember reading somewhere (was a long time ago, so can't remember the exact source :roll: ), that during times of drought, Buffalo mortality is usually very high. Up to 50% was mentioned.

So under the current drought conditions, how has the Kruger Buffalo population faired?
I have read on numerous trip reports etc of people seeing a lot of Hippo carcasses, but not much mention of Buffalo

We are currently in the park and although have seen quite a lot and some big herds as well some of them are starting to look a bit on the "skinny" side.
