We were in Kruger this last week (4 – 12 March 2016) and enjoyed it thoroughly! It was so amazing to see the park bone dry and how it transforms after the first big rain. And this is where my story begins. What a privilege it was!!!

We went on our own game drive the morning of the 9th, just after the first big storm in a while. We ( myself and Elaine27) were so thankful as the bush and animals really cried for some rain. We did the Gomodwane loop (S130) at about 10:00. This is one of my favourite roads that always deliver something unusual. All the pans were filled and we wandered what we will find…

At the pan where the tree is in the middle of the road (most people know this famous tree), we found this Civet in the water! What a sighting! A civet in the daytime is very unusual, and we saw it was sniffing around in the water…

It was actually catching African bull frogs! He ran after them and caught and ate them!! I know they eat millipedes, but this was the first time I saw them eating frogs!
We were the only car at the sighting and watched the civet for more than half an hour, before its stomach was full and it moved off into the bush.
We found lots of bull frogs on the S130. And they were mating. The next day we drove the same road again and no bull frogs were present. That shows you, right time at the right place, and you will have an amazing sighting!
The video clip can be watched at:

Kruger National Park stays one of my favourite destinations, and sometimes Kruger treats you to one of wonderful sightings. We feel so privileged to have witnessed such an awesome sighting!

What a great sighting especially to see it during daylight, I have only briefly seen a handful on night drives running away.

Great to see the video of it, amazing look animal a collection of 3 or 4 others stuck together :D
