Hi RSVP.

There are no longer Pensioner rates for the Wild Card itself.

Pensioner rates for accommodation (and camping sites) is available at certain times of the year, excluding Friday and Saturday nights. The Pensioner discount is available to SA Citizens and SA Permanent Residents (i.e. people with ID numbers).

You can find details of the discounts on the Sanparks website.

Yes Mary is quite right, Wild Card no longer issues pensioner's Wild Cards (Wild Card for Life)

However if any one was issued with a Wild Card for Life, when Infinity were managing the WC system (before Oct 2010) SANParks are still honouring all those cards, and they will be valid for the period of our lives.

I am not sure what you are saying in your post Madalla, but I can confirm that if anyone was issued with a Pensioner's Wild Card by the Infinity Company, before Oct 2010, then that card is valid until they pass on from this world to the next.

However after Oct 2010 no pensioner discounts are now issued when purchasing a Wild Card.

There are plenty of accommodation discounts available though at certain times.

Pensioner life discounts discontinued in 2010 so those with them are now vey elderly MY BIL has one and he is 80 but his wife who is 76 did not qualify soooo soon these cards will be fazed out due to the fact the old folk have a habit of dying !!!! Its a pity but that's the way it goes . they were only issued to folk of 70 and over

Hugh sort of hera what you are saying, but I do find your post a bit confusing.................though maybe that is because I am blonde.

Just to once again clarify............all Pensioner Wild Cards issued before Oct 2010 by Infinity are still honoured by SANParks and will only expire when we die. After Oct 2010 Pensioner Wild Cards were no longer issued.

Its because you are blonde Val!!! :D what I am saying the last were issued in 2010 and to have received one then or before 2010 you had to be 70 Now do the sums and the youngest free card holders must be now 77 ... and though you and I mjght feel 77 + sometimes we did not qualify then....!

Thanks Hugh.
You make very depressing sums!

Val - I was saying that I am so old that I did qualify for the card for life and also that being so old means that anything else I might buy - car, fridge etc. - also seems have a "for life" guarantee sort off.

But my wife still has to renew her wild card every year so their is very little profit in my wild card being for life.

I was very depressed when I turned 60 - until I discovered, rather slowly, the benefits. The SANParks Pensioner discounts are wonderful and, as we don't like to go to the parks during busy times, we make use of them. I enjoy discounts at several shops etc., too, and yesterday registered at our local nursery and got a huge discount on bedding plants!!

Madalla - long may you enjoy your Wild Card for Life!

Thanks Hippotragus,

I plan to slow down a bit and enjoy the motorhome more. Maybe I will succeed this time.

Enjoy your trip to KNP. May you bring lots of rain wherever you go!
