Re: Have you Spotted the Thunderbirds recently ?

We're just back from 10 days, Phalaborwa to Malalane, and we saw I think 17. Different ones, because we were in different places. Hard to believe they're so scarce?

Re: Best way to see leopard

I have found that the best way to spot leopard is to first find Mario and Jenny of Kruger2Kalahari. Then follow them closely everywhere. Because they find all the leopards :-) But seriously, what the other people have said. Be out the gates when they open. Be out until they close. Take a break in th...

Re: Rain in Kruger

I can report that there's no water shortage in Satara. Humongous storm last night, the guys at the desk say 48mm but I think they mean 480mm. Found out that the teardrop leaks a bit. And that there's only one tumble dryer. But as we speak we're shacked up warm and dry in the teardrop, with wine. And...

Interesting things on Google Earth

Prompted by the many websites telling us about hidden places in Disneyworld and the like. Playing with Google Earth I spot interesting things. For example these http://www.dw.co.za/~wrm/knp/K1.jpg . As far as I know these are camps with varying degrees of keeping animals out to study plant growth. B...

Re: MOST POPULAR CAMPSITE

I just booked for the week between xmas and new year and I can tell you Lower Sabie is very popular because they have absolutely no space left. Satara, Skukuza and Berg & Dal had a few places left -- Satara most likely because it's so big. If I hadn't left it so late I would have preferred Lower...

Re: To Camp or Not to Camp?! Whats your vote...

I was noticing things more than previous times in the Kruger, and seems most people with caravans also have aircon installed. Now I need to figure out a miniature aircon for the teardrop. Because yes, aircon is about the only reason not to camp. And then there are the people with their sat dishes. T...

Wrm's Wouter and Tanya, KNP, December 2015

Hi all We're back home as of 04:30 this morning. The mission: Tanya wanted to see cats. Leopard, specifically. I booked Lower Sabie / Satara / Skukuza / Pretoriuskop, including a night drive at each, figuring a night drive was the best way of getting to see a leopard. Hah*. Timing was to match the k...
