Re: KNP to demolish its artificial water holes

Visited Renosterkoppies WH today (south of Skukuza on S114).
Unfortunately it has been shut down. Shame, have had many great sightings there in the past.

Re: Jan van Wyk: Kruger Park highlights and Snippets

Hi Jan,

I have very much enjoyed your trip highlights, so many fantastic sightings and images!
I especially liked the lion cubs and bittern. My next trip to Kruger starts tonight so hopefully I will have some of your success.

All the best, Rob

Re: Shopping en route to Kruger.

Thanks Chris and Jeff, that is very useful.
I have set up a data plan using the eSIM method via Airalo which was pretty easy.
I’ll also share my findings when I use it next week.

Re: Shopping en route to Kruger.

Hi 'mites,

Kind of 'shopping' related so I'll post here but I seem to recall a sticky post in the past about buying local SIMs for mobile phones for us foreign folk? Anyone able to point me in the right direction?

Many thanks, Rob

Re: Misty mornings in Sanparks

Been catching up on some images from my trip back in June…here is one of the misty mornings we experienced.

Re: Kruger in SA Winter

We are also just back from the park and at virtually the same time as yours, might have even passed you on the roads (we did have our yellow ribbon attached to the car) . I only saw one car with yellow ribbons, while we were watching a huge bull elephant near the S125/S36 junction last Monday, mayb...

Re: Kruger in SA Winter

A quick reply to my own question now that I have returned home... First time visiting at this time of year so didn't know what to expect but found that: -It was much colder than I expected, down to about 4c in the mornings but still warm during the day around 23/24c, although took nearly to lunchtim...

Re: Kruger in SA Winter

Hi Yovi, Your trip sounds very similar to our own! We arrive in JNB next Saturday morning (28th May) and like you have opted to stay the first night just outside the Malelane gate to avoid stress in case of delays. We’ll then stay at Biyamiti, Lower Sabie, Olifants, HoyoHoyo and the finish at Berg e...

Re: Kruger in SA Winter

Thanks for the updates, very useful info.
I was planning to skip the anti malaria drugs this time given the cooler and drier climate compared to when we normally visit in mid summer but given the late rains I think I will get some after all.

Kruger in SA Winter

Hi All, As someone based in the UK I normally visit your beautiful country when the weather here is cold and dark (ie your summer). With the Covid restrictions lifting I have booked a trip to visit end of May/early June. This will be my first time visiting in Kruger winter and just wondered what I c...

Re: Staying out all day

If it is a day with no hard objectives (moving camps, exiting the park etc) then I usually make a rough plan of action but this can often change based on weather, sightings and just how people are feeling. Work with nature and just go with the flow. It’s the surprises Kruger throws up that makes it ...

Re: Identification Help - General Birds

I’ve been through my bird books and apps several times but cannot work out what this one is?
Seen around Talamati area over the Xmas period. Any help much appreciated!
