Re: Mapungubwe, place of solitude?
They have everything including a microwave - maybe you should just get some firewood on your way to Mapungubwe if you would like to braai. I always take a few extra utensils with like a can opener, a knife and braai utensils even though they have it in the units. (I am just used to mine). Also take ...

Re: Mapungubwe: Rainfall Info
The situation in Mapungubwe is bad from what I was told. The road just before Dongola is washed away, the water is right up to Rhodes drift and I believe a car was washed away and 4 people (2 Adults and 2 children) died. One of them is reported to be a staff member of Mapungubwe.

Re: Predators and open windows
A few years ago I traveled from Skukuza to Kruger gate, just after the turnoff to Lake Panic a leopard appeared right next to the road. Since I was the only car around I stopped right next to it with the intention to take a brilliant photo, my window was open as I were told that one should not brake...

Re: Kruger Animal Picture Book
Hi Toby One of the best books I ever got relating to the animals, including spiders, birds, frogs and snakes, fish, butterflies, flowers and trees etc. was "The Wildlife of Southern Africa " by Vincent Carruthers. I never go to Kruger or any of the other Parks without it. What I do is to w...

Re: mapungubwe visit
Dear Indiajane enjoy your trip to Mapungubwe, I will be there in the middle of March to go t o the new interpretative centre. Don't worry about your view in Leokwe if you don't see the cliffs you will see the bush - I have stayed in number 7 I think (they are in clusters of 3) and woke up in the mor...

Re: Kgalagadi Information Page
Dear P@m
It is not a matter of when do I want to visit, it is a matter of when can I get a booking - that is why I am nagging about the camp.
Are the wilderness camps accessible with a sedan? I am not really one for the bright lights etc.
Thanks for the info

Re: Kgalagadi Information Page
Thank you Arks - which camp do you recommend? When visiting KNP I always try and book accommodation in the more rustic camps. I am 9 out of 10 times also a solo traveler, now and again I am forced to share my escape to tranquility with a family member or friend.

Re: Kgalagadi Information Page
Could anyone advise me with regard to accommodation and access to Kgalagadi in terms of Sedan vehicles. I really want to go there but does not have a 4x4 vehicle - on their home page they state that the park is not sedan friendly. Is there any camp that one can go to and and roads that one can drive...

Re: Dog cemetry at Skukuza - information needed for displays
I know there is a memorial for Jock at Numbi gate.
To add to the list, I recently found out that Mati and Milo belonged to Louis Olivier.
Is it possible to get an update on the list to see which names are still outstanding?

Re: Breakdowns, car problems, flat tyres
Thank you Klystron - I am going to this - I still have the plastic valve caps, will change them this week-end. Do I do the sealant every time before I go to the parks or when I change tyres?
