Re: Driving (best route) to/from Kruger

Tamsy, we drove Hazyview/White River Mbombela to Tambo airport on Monday and roadworks on long sections of the road. It did slow us down but at no stage did we have what I would call a Jam. Did not drive the section from Mbombela to Malelane though.

Re: A Question of Quelias - Kruger Apr/May 2023

Sunday, 23rd April RAG has decided to spend the day in camp but SO and I head out of the gate and along the tar going northwards. The bush is really quiet but we are just happy to be here. By the time we reach Shipandani Hide our sightings were Community Nest Spider, https://live.staticflickr.com/6...

A Question of Quelias - Kruger Apr/May 2023

For this trip we are bringing out SO’s eldest son (known as RAG – for his first initials) for his first Safari. It will be very different to his more usual vacation but curiosity meant he had decided to find out just what keeps us both returning to Africa, especially the Kruger Park. Timewise the tr...

Re: Cats and Dogs Abound - KNP Sep-Oct 2022

Tuesday, 18th October Although a cloudy start to the day, the temperature is already at 20 degrees as we load up the car with everything we need. This will be our last full day in the area and we want to explore as many of the roads as possible. We are amazed at just how much we find between the ca...

Re: Accommodation - ask all your questions here

I know Tamboti is a well loved camp for many people but we did not have a happy or comfortable experience staying here due to the primate problems. If you are looking for a more 'bush experience' personally I would suggest (and I am sticking to a similar area as I assume this is part of a wider KNP ...

Re: Cats and Dogs Abound - KNP Sep-Oct 2022

Saturday, 15th October The heat is becoming ever more oppressive and SO has had a very bad night. Not helped by the troublesome male Baboon causing havoc in camp, we have a solution for the problem (SO not the Baboon) but we need to get a particular drug. He thought he had brought a pack in our ‘mi...

Re: Cats and Dogs Abound - KNP Sep-Oct 2022

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. I had really hoped to get the whole of our TR completed before our next trip but here we are, a few more days to go up in a minute but the taxi is due shortly to get us up to Heathrow. Sometimes family matters have to take priority but I promise to get this fi...

I thought we would miss you in Hazyview however, looking at your itinerary we will overlap for one night at Satara. We will be in the A circle so will look out for you. All our dates have just gone onto the Kruger list. Would be great to share sundowners at least. Have a fabulous trip!

Re: Cats and Dogs Abound - KNP Sep-Oct 2022

Tuesday, 11th October Up with the proverbial lark, we head out of the back exit soon after Gate opening. Our plan is to drive down the Kanniedood road as far as Dipeni and then return to camp. Whilst we understand the reasons for the breaching of the Dam, it does feel like we see less birds in the ...

Cats and Dogs Abound - KNP Sep-Oct 2022

Whilst it is not unusual for us to make 2 KNP visits in a year, we normally have a longer break between trips than has happened this year. After our amazing trip in May when we brought out my youngest daughter for her first Kruger adventure, in late September we are lucky enough to be heading back o...

Re: Car choice/best vehicle/Insurance for Kruger

Whilst it is usually possible to pick up a car from one place and return it to another, I am wondering if you might have a problem dropping it off at Skukuza airport where there is only one rental firm - Avis. If you have not already bought your flights, could you fly from KMIA to Cape Town. There a...
