Re: Satara Rest Camp
Hi Christian, I've never paid much attention to that box but I know which one you are talking about. If it does get passed on to the SA postal service, it could take so long before you receive it, that you may have forgotten about ever doing so in the first place... so don't expect it any time soon,...

Re: Roodewal Bush Lodge
My absolute pleasure and I'm so glad that you have found it helpful! That is what this forum is for :D You will love your stay at Roodewal. Its location and tranquility are truly exceptional, the vegetation is very diverse as it seems to be a transition zone between the central plains, rugged olifan...

Re: Roodewal Bush Lodge
I'm happy to be able to provide Craig and Laura (who posted recently) with insight into the status at Roodewal, as at 22 September 2023, when we departed from a wonderful stay there. To answer your questions: Fridges: There is a total of 5 large fridges in good working order. Four of them are large ...

Olifants Wilderness Trail
It seems from the online bookings page that this trail, or a new version of the old one, has been reintroduced. However, other than stating that accommodation is tents with two beds, there is no information of photographs available. This sounds so promising but SANParks does not appear to have provi...

Re: Bushmans Wilderness Trail
Wow it has been a long time since I posted on this wonderful forum! Its good to be back. There is no information that i can find, which says whether the upgraded Bushman's accommodation has en-suite bathrooms or not. Does anybody know more about this? UPDATE: We had a spectacular few days on this ma...

Sirheni GC6D - 1 - 2 or 7?
Wow, it has truly been ages since I last posted on this wonderful forum. It is so heart warming to see that many of the stalwarts are still here and going strong! For those very familiar with Sirheni, if one could choose between units 1, 2 and 7, taking into account view and privacy, does any one of...

Re: A short video of Kruger in the early '60s
What a magnificent find!! Wonderful to see that when it comes to what REALLY matters (the protected wilderness), little has changed.

Re: Secrets and lies
Interesting topic GM.... Oh boy Nungu, each to their own but I think you are missing out on some other very special aspects of Kruger that are right under your nose. Lies: none I think my below "secrets" are probably not quite the topic that GM had in mind but.... "Secrets": I th...

Re: Bateleur Bushveld Camp
We would probably book a GC6, of which I gather there are only three, Units 1, 4 and 7. From reading the thread, 7 seems to be the most popular because it has a view into the veld. What are number's 4 and 1 like? Do they have any special features that make them more desirable? For example, especiall...

Re: Sightings … that very strong desire to get involved
This is an interesting topic.......and I think it actually highlights for all of us what I have been taught and believe is the purpose of Humans. We all know, RESPECT and implement the argument which states that we should "not get involved and allow nature to take its course..." I respect ...

Re: Amazing stories: close encounters of the legal kind
Enjoying this thread! Here's one of mine: At Talamati about ten years ago we stood around the braai one winter's evening turning the meat. The torch batteries were dying and the light began to fade but was sufficient for its purpose. I heard rustling in the dry grass, whatever was there was coming c...

Re: Black Leopard
Very interesting Scipio! When you say that you could still see the rosettes, was there any cream / beige / tan colouring visible between the black? Or could you see rosette patterning against an entirely dark coat without any light colouring? If the former is the case, then it sounds like you saw a ...

Re: Brown Hyaena
This makes for exciting reading! We often don't realise just how big Kruger actually is.... the vastness of the spaces beyond what the eye can see no doubt hold some wonderful secrets and it seems very likely that Brown Hyenas do still roam the remote parts...far away from tourist roads...albeit in ...

Re: Promoting good manners in the Park
I agree and second everything you and others have already said. I would also add the following: 1. Make sure that noise levels are kept to a bare minimum at all times (obviously within reason) 2. Say hi and introduce yourself to your neighbours. You don't need to become friends and spend time togeth...

Re: Dog cemetry at Skukuza - information needed for displays
Thats good news Joep! Thank you.
I was never sure that the dogs had in fact been buried there...the stones were close together.
I think that this will be a most interesting new display...looking forward to seeing it when complete.
