Re: Which animal eludes you most in KNP?

Aardvark and Pangolin. Saw only the backside of one on a night drive and very quickly at that, was to busy trying to switch on my camera to have a proper look and by then it was too late. SO saw it but I didn't..... And caracal, haven't seen one in 13 years and then only on 3 occasions in almost 45 ...

Re: Most memorable road block! (involving animals...)

There is two that comes to mind. the more pleasurable of the 2 was a kill at Satara on s100 in 2012. A little more than a half an hour before closing time we still had about 7kms left to go on the s100 when a group of 9 lions downed a giraffe smack in the middle of the road. No need to mention that ...

Re: To Camp or Not to Camp?! Whats your vote...

#Tessa G I'll pray that the lotto come soon, don't worry we hope for the same! What I didn't tell Hilda is that after every camping trip we always book a luxury hut for the last evening, just to rest from all the packing up and so on, and to get use to sleeping in a proper bed again, or whatever exc...

Re: What's the longest you've been in Kruger for?

We had the fortune of staying in the park for five months, where we only had to leave for a weekend once a month to check in on the parents at home. It was total bliss, but i must say we were quite in a bit of culture shock once we got home and had to stay there. Still have to go far to come close t...

Ha Hilda, you're just scared hubby will blow his pension by buying a caravan with a satellite dish and a flat-screen tv, one of those double wheel beauties that's twice as long as the suv.... They even have dishwashers in them, did you know?

Re: To Camp or Not to Camp?! Whats your vote...

I"ll camp every day if I could. Not just for the fact that you actually feel closer to nature, lets face it you hear a lions roar much better through canvass than concrete and bricks and the noise of an air conditioner! Much cheaper obviously. Campers are also some of the nicest people on Gods ...

Re: Info walks taken from camps.

Quite correct. You dont need to dress like a Navy seal team on a mission. Its glamorous but unnesasary. Any dark colours wil do. Do all my walks with jeans. If you got camoes or khaki, its fine. But not nesasary to go out of your way to go and buy it.

Re: Info walks taken from camps.

Hi Nancy and welcome. August tends to be bit nippy in the mornings. What i would suggest is that that you layer you're clothes rather than wear one heavy jacket. Full sleeve shirt with a light jersey and light jacket over that. As you get warmer when youre a while into the walk you can take it of. A...
