Mapungubwe the Beginning – Lecture Series 2019

The Annual Mapungubwe Lecture Series was an activity-packed weekend event held at Mapungubwe National Park, a cultural heritage site.
The main attraction of this event was a keynote lecture delivered by prolific and knowledgeable speakers sharing their expertise on a variety of topics relating to the ancient Mapungubwe kingdom. Guests were transported back in time as they explored the proud history of Southern Africa’s first kingdom through various activities. These included a guided heritage trail and museum visit, storytelling around the fire at the confluence where three countries meet, as well as a cultural performances. This all culminated into an amazing traditional music festival under the stars on the banks of the Limpopo River.
The keynote speaker for 2019 was Professor Maano Ramutsindela from UCT.
