TMNP: Slangkop “Open Week” during SANParks Week

08 September 2011

Perfectly positioned just metres from Kommetjie Lighthouse, this beautifully appointed self-catering accommodation facility is part of the Hoerikwaggo Tented Camp range. These include Smitswinkel, Silvermine, Slangkop and Orange Kloof and were built slightly raised off the ground to minismise environmental impact. The eco-friendly design, showcases a different theme at each site – of which Slangkop boasts a marine setting using whale vertebrae as lamp shades.

Each camp offers accommodation for those hiking the Hoerikwaggo Trail from Cape Point to Table Mountain, or simply offers guests the opportunity to sleep under the stars on the mountain for a mid-week or weekend getaway.

The Slangkop Open Week allows locals and visitors to view the accommodation and learn more about the area and facility at the visitor information centre, adjacent to the camp site.

The recently launched My Green Card a limited entry access card for especially for Capetonians will also be on sale at the Slangkop Tented Camp office during the open week (and weekend).

On Wednesday 14 September, the Buffelsfontein Visitor Centre (BVC) Volunteers will lead those interested on a guided walk starting at the BVC in the Cape of Good Hope section of TMNP. The trail is a pleasant walk and perfect for the whole family. Those interested in joining the walk should meet at BVC at 09h30 on 14 September and bring along a hat, sunscreen, water and snacks for the trip.

If you’ve never thought about sleeping on Table Mountain, or next to the ocean, visit the Slangkop Tented Camp during SANParks Week and you might be the winner of a 2-night stay for yourself and a partner.
