Media Release: Man Arrested For Starting Fire In KNP

A middle aged man was  arrested for starting a fire in the Kruger National Park (KNP) at midday today.

The man was caught setting a fire near Phabeni Entrance Gate by KNP Rangers after he had set three other fires along the road between the gate and Skukuza Rest Camp.

Arson charges have been laid against him, and he is being held in the cells at Skukuza Police Station.

The fire set by the suspect was still burning at 16:00 and the extent of the burnt area has yet to be determined.
