Due to the heavy rains of the last six days, the Marakele National Park near Thabazimbi in the Northern Province is closed to tourists until further notice. The Matlabas River burst its banks leaving the road to the tented camp inaccessible. Other roads in the Park are also inaccessible and day visitors will not be allowed to drive through the Park.†

As soon as the rains stop, the situation will be assessed again. Tourists with reservations for the coming week should please phone the Park Manager at (014) 777 1745 for the latest information.
