Would you like to have your say about the way the Kruger National Park’s (KNP) tourism operation is being managed?

Now you can by registering as a stakeholder and by taking part in the public participatory phase of a tourism asset assessment study which will eventually form part of the overall management plan of the KNP.

“So many people in our surrounding areas have ideas on how the Park should be run and many of these ideas could mature to become tourism opportunities. This participation process will be used to tap into those ideas,” said the KNP’s Head of Tourism and Marketing, Ms Lucy Nhlapo-Sekete.

The management plan of the KNP is a requirement of the National Environment Management: Protected Areas Act No 57 of 2003 which requires all protected areas to put forward a management plan before November 2006.

Among other goals, this tourism assessment will determine existing and future tourism potential in South Africa’s largest National Park, with the aim of linking this to an understanding of who visits the KNP and what their needs are.

Interested people are invited to become involved in this study. Details on how to register as a stakeholder are available on the SANParks Website ( or from Wilheminah Mosupye at the Stakeholder Engagement Office (Tel: +27 11 254 4905).
