Media Release: KNP awards its achievers for excellence

“I have always reminded you of the immense responsibility that has been placed on our shoulders by the populace of our country. They have high expectations, given the positive contributory legacy left by each of our predecessors. The responsibility of custodianship of the country’s heritage requires a strong, dedicated, courageous and passionate breed of men and women who aspire for excellence”, said the KNP Managing Executive, Mr Abe Sibiya in his key note address.
Awards were given to individual staff members who have excelled in the categories of “Outstanding Service in the Workplace” and “Outstanding Service to Tourist/Client/Customer” in the past year.
More awards given were: “Ranger Post of the Year”, “Camp of the Year”, “Bush Camp of the Year”, “Wilderness Trails Camp of the Year”, “Department of the Year”, an award for a “Special Team Effort”, “Appreciation Awards” and “Managing Executive Special Awards”.
The “Bravery Award”, also known as the Kruger Cross which is the highest award in the KNP, was the last category.
Total SA, which has given support since the beginning of the awards 12 years ago, awarded the best filling station in the KNP for the “Total SA Top Service Award”.
The Awards are adjudicated by a team of high profile KNP senior managers from different departments and the facilities mentioned are judged on areas such as overall performance, implementation of various systems, financial performance and management, guest complaints and compliments, compliance to policies and general neatness of the facility.

Camp of the Year – Berg en Dal’s Joseph Sambo (with certificate), HOD: People & Conservation, Ms Helen Mmethi, Ms Florence Nkuna, Hospitality Services Manager, Stephen Nel and Managing Executive, Abe Sibiya.
Bush Camp of the Year – Duty Manager: Bateleur, Mr Paul Mgiba receives the award. With him is Regional General Manager: Nxanatseni, Ben van Eeden, Managing Executive, Mr Abe Sibiya, and Regional Tourism Manager: Nxanatseni, Michelle van der Merwe.
Ranger Post of the Year –Regional Ranger: Marula South, Mr Don English receives the award on behalf of Crocodile Bridge Ranger Section. With him are Mr Abe Sibiya and Ms Helen Mmethi.
Gate of the Year – Mr Ben Van Eeden, Ms Nostah Mgiba, Senior Gate Official, Mr Collen Masangu and Mr Abe Sibiya.
