Media Release: KNP Achievement Awards lure top brass
The guest list for the 10th Kruger National Park (KNP) Achievement Awards, which takes place in Skukuza on Friday, April 17, 2009, includes some of the most influential delegates that Mpumalanga and Limpopo provinces have to offer, including Premiers, MECs, traditional leaders and senior officials of different companies from all over South Africa.
“As this is our 10th year, we are very happy to be hosting the calibre of people that we will host because they will boost the profile of the event as much as possible. It is also in our interest as the Park to extend the hand of friendship and co-operation to both provinces as well as our business partners in the country,” said the KNP’s Head of Public Relations Mr William Mabasa.
Staff and guests attending the award will hear not only addresses by senior South African National Parks (SANParks) officials such as Chief Executive Dr David Mabunda and the acting Managing Executive Mr Abe Sibiya, but they will also hear a motivational talk by Dr David Malapo from the I Can Group.
It is expected that the Mpumalanga Premier Mr Thabang Makwetla will also address the event. Other notable politicians attending the event include Mpumalanga Speaker Ms Pinky Phosa, Limpopo MEC for Economic Development and Tourism Mr Collins Chabane and the Mpumalanga 2010 co-ordinator Mr Differ Mogale.
“We sincerely believe that the appearance of these high-profile people will motivate our staff even further,” he added.
Awards given at the event include: Entrance Gate of the Year, Camp of the Year, Bush Camp of the Year, Wilderness Trails Camp of the Year, Concession of the Year, Ranger Post of the Year, Region of the Year, Shop of the Year, Department of the Year and an award for a “Special Team Effort”.
Individual awards will be given to KNP staff members who show “Outstanding Service in the Work Place” and “Outstanding Service to Tourists/Clients/Customers”. Total SA will also give an award to the best filling station in the KNP.
The media will also have a large presence at the event, with Jacaranda RM/FM and Munghana-Lonene FM, radio stations broadcasting directly from the venue. Most locally-based newspapers will also have representatives at the event.
