SANParks 2010 Strategy

Booking procedures for 2010:

SANParks has decided to follow a strategy of least impact and change. In light of that the following steps will be followed:

• Inventory contracted to MATCH will be removed from the reservation system prior to the opening of the booking period;
• On 1 July 2009 and as per existing process the bookings will open for the period 1 June 2010 to 31 July 2010;
• Deposit conditions will remain the same for individual bookings;
• In order to prevent speculation by travel agents and tour operators, the deposit conditions for these parties might be tightened (specifically for this period);
• Frequent communication will happen to our loyal customers to inform them on any changes to the inventory held by MATCH. Changes might include the release of inventory back into our reservation system (in the unlikely event of low demand). For example MATCH will release inventory back on the following dates (contractually):
  • 15 January 2010 or 2 weeks following the final draw (which ever comes first); and on
  • 30 April 2010 all the rooms that are not booked will be released back.

In light of the above, applicants that were not able to secure accommodation in the parks (over the event period) on the 1st of June and/or the 1st of July 2009 might, through the normal booking system and reservation offices, secure released accommodation on these additional dates.
