Namaqua’s flower update for 29 July 2009
Date: 2009-07-30
Over the past 2 weeks no rain fell in the Namaqua National Park. Skilpad is looking unbelievably good - possibly better than at any stage last year.
It is mainly orange daisies, although some other flowers are starting to show up, such as Meidestert (Lapeirousia silenoides); Varkiesknol (Conicosia elongata) and hongerblomme (Senecio sp). The road to the park just past the Haasriver has nice orange flower carpets as well. The coastal areas are looking better by the day and the vygies are starting to make a showing.
The gravel road to Skilpad (Namaqua National Park) will be graded this week.
Rainfall for Skilpad as follows:
- April 2009: 35.6mm
- May 2009: 39.1mm
- June 2009: 123.4mm
- July 2009: 20.3mm
