Media Release: Skukuza Marathon books out whole camp

South African National Parks (SANParks) would like to inform the public that the Skukuza camp will be booked out for the annual Skukuza Half Marathon 2014 runners on 1 and 2 August 2014. This announcement comes ahead of August 2014 bookings opening on Monday, 2 September 2013.

The Kruger National Park (KNP), in partnership with various denominations from the neighbouring communities of the Park, held a church service on Saturday, 17 August 2013 at the Skukuza Soccer Field to pray for the rhino species and to condemn rhino poaching.

Kruger National Park warns against false representation

There is phishing email circulating around, from an address krugernparks@gmail.com with a job application form that has a South African National Parks logo attached. The source/s sending the email urges recipients to apply for a job in the Kruger National Park (KNP), giving them details of where and when in the Park; the field training would take place if one has been selected. Of much concern is that the email states that the successful candidates would need to pay a rental fee of R600 which includes breakfast and supper.

The South African National Parks (SANParks) on Thursday, 25 July 2013, confirmed the arrest of four poachers in the iconic Kruger National Park (KNP) by the SANParks Special Forces and Rangers. The arrests took place in two different sections of the park amid latest statistics released yesterday of 321 rhinos having been poached in the park this year alone.

KNP's Stevenson-Hamilton Knowledge Resource Centre remains closed

The closure of the museum at the Stevenson-Hamilton Knowledge Resource Centre in the Kruger National Park (KNP) at Skukuza Rest Camp, which was scheduled to reopen on 30 June 2013, has been extended to 31 July 2013. The museum has been temporarily closed for renovation since 3 December 2012 to date.

Media Release: KNP to close more artificial water holes

Media Release: Foreign tourists involved in an accident in the KNP

An elephant overturned a vehicle driven by two tourists of Chinese origin i.e. male and female, on the H1-7 tar road between Shingwedzi and Punda Maria in the Kruger National Park (KNP) around 06:30 this morning. The driver (male) sustained injuries and a helicopter, local doctor and paramedics rushed to the scene of the accident to attend to him immediately.
