For the second time this year, the Kruger National Park (KNP) has had to close its Crocodile Bridge Entrance Gate as the water of the Crocodile River has risen over the level of the access road.

Crocodile Bridge Entrance Gate to the Kruger National Park (KNP) is open for all traffic again after it was closed for more than a week due to the rising level of the Crocodile River.

The Crocodile Bridge is flooded and the gate is closed. It is impossible for vehicles to cross and more water is still on the way. Guests must please make use of alternative gates (nearest Malelane Gate).

Media Release: KNP Issues 600 Fines During Festive Season

Kruger National Park (KNP) traffic officials issued 600 fines for various offences between December 15, 2005 and January 16, 2006.

“We warned people before the start of the festive season that they would indeed be fined if they break any of the regulations in the park, and this was indeed the case,” said KNP Executive Director Dr Bandile Mkhize, “but we still believe that most of our visitors do obey the rules.”

The Giriyondo Tourist Access Facility (border post) that links Limpopo National Park in Mozambique and the Kruger National Park in South Africa in the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park (GLTP), will be operational from the 7th of December 2005. A Boksburg school, the Mooiplaas Ranger Section and a bunch of balloons were linked together in the strangest of ways today (Friday, 7 October 2005).  Mooiplaas Section Ranger, Mr Johann Oelofse, addressed the pupils of Laeskool Van Dyk Primary on the dangers of littering, especially in the Kruger National Park (KNP).  “Litter not only looks ugly but can have disastrous effects on our natural surroundings,” he explained to 800 eager faces.
