The 2015 SANParks Honorary Rangers, West Rand Region’s birding weekends are in full swing in the Kruger National Park. Held in partnership with Birdlife South Africa and Sasol, these weekends held across 20 camps within the park are aimed raising funds for conservation through educating and exposing the public to the wonders of birding.
South African National Parks today (Friday, 12 December) announced the arrests and fatalities of suspected poachers in the Kruger National Park (KNP) in the past week.
The IMPERIAL Retail Logistics team together with the South African National Parks (SANParks) Honorary Rangers donated 510 Christmas hampers, 644 Kiddies Hampers to the Kruger National Park (KNP) Rangers and their families as well as a cash donation of R100 000 towards the valuable Canine Unit today, 12 December 2014 in Skukuza.

Kruger National Park (KNP) can confirm that a crocodile killed a staff member’s son, Jacques van der Sandt aged 29, last night (3 December 2014) at the Skukuza Golf Course, situated adjacent to the Staff Village. Jacques is son to Schalk (retired) and staff member Lorretha van der Sandt; the couple has been working in the Park since 1992.

The Kruger National Park (KNP) will demolish three artificial water holes in the southern part of the Park in the week of 8-12 December 2014. Explosives will be used to demolish these structures; after which the rubble will be removed as part of the rehabilitation process.
Survival equipment to the value of R1.5 million was handed over at a ceremony in Phalaborwa on 31 October 2014. 21 September 2014, Skukuza - In a joint South African National Parks (SANParks) and South African Police Services (SAPS) operation today (Sunday, 21 September 2014) three SANParks employees were arrested in connection with rhino poaching in the Kruger National Park.

The Kruger National Park (KNP) is currently experiencing four fast moving fires since Friday, 12 September 2014 due to the hot weather conditions in the area. All business operators who travel through the Kruger National Park (KNP)’s border gates i.e. Giriyondo and Pafuri, transporting passengers to and from Mozambique, will be required to produce valid passenger transport permits as from 1 August 2014. These are meant for communities residing in the Limpopo National Park (LNP) in Mozambique, who work in South Africa and often make use of the two border gates going home.
