The Kruger National Park (KNP) will once again host multitude of scientists and researchers from around the world at the 13th annual Savanna Science Network Meeting which is taking place from 9-12 March 2015 at the Nombolo Mdhluli Conference Centre in Skukuza. The 2015 SANParks Honorary Rangers, West Rand Region’s birding weekends are in full swing in the Kruger National Park. Kruger National Park (KNP) can confirm that a crocodile killed a staff member’s son, Jacques van der Sandt aged 29, last night (3 December 2014) at the Skukuza Golf Course, situated adjacent to the Staff Village. Jacques is son to Schalk (retired) and staff member Lorretha van der Sandt; the couple has been working in the Park since 1992.

The Kruger National Park (KNP) will demolish three artificial water holes in the southern part of the Park in the week of 8-12 December 2014. Explosives will be used to demolish these structures; after which the rubble will be removed as part of the rehabilitation process.
Survival equipment to the value of R1.5 million was handed over at a ceremony in Phalaborwa on 31 October 2014. The Kruger National Park (KNP) is currently experiencing four fast moving fires since Friday, 12 September 2014 due to the hot weather conditions in the area. A run-away fire jumped over the border on Friday from Mozambique into the KNP; burning areas south of Olifants River, Houtboschrand, N’wanetsi until Tshokwane; however it is now under control.
