Date: 2007-09-19

At around 02:00 on Tuesday September 18, 2007, armed robbers gained access into the Skukuza Rest Camp Shop in the Kruger National Park (KNP) by removing sections of the thatch roof.

“We understand that the South African Police Service are investigating this crime and we will support them in their efforts to bring these suspects to justice,” said the KNP’s Executive Director Dr Bandile Mkhize.

The suspects escaped by holding the camp gate security officials at gunpoint and tying their hands. The security guard officials at Kruger Entrance Gate were also held at gunpoint and tied up, and the suspects escaped.
