Autumn Sunset Serenade
9 May – 13 May 2007 – Letaba Camp, KNP
The Honorary Rangers of the Counter Poaching & Ranger Support Services Unit of South African National Parks, invite you to join us for an extended weekend of music near Letaba, a beautifully shaded camp in the Kruger Park, from 9th May, departing on 13th May 2007.
Wednesday 9th will be the settling in day and, to avoid rushing to camp before sunset, no activities will be planned. Guests may relax, meet up with old friends, enjoy a leisurely braai, book a game drive at Reception, or go on your own drive along the river familiarising yourselves with the Autumn colours in the Park. Mike Mills from Classic fM will be broadcasting from Camp to listeners in Gauteng and everyone is invited to witness the workings of an outside broadcast.
On Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings we will depart from camp in open vehicles to magnificent sites with awesome river views to enjoy sundowners and listen to beautiful classical and light popular music played by musicians from the JPO. Whilst in the bush, guests will be guarded by professionally trained field rangers.
Dinners will be served at the restaurant which overlooks the Letaba River. During the evening, guest speakers from the Park will enthral you with tales of their experiences and invite you to ask any questions you may have regarding their specialised subjects. The musicians rehearse on the lawns on Friday & Saturday mornings for an hour and you are welcome to listen to their beautiful music and interact with them.
We can accommodate you the exclusive 4 bedroomed Fish Eagle Guest House, the 6-bedded Melville house, a limited number of donor cottages or 2 and 3-bed air-conditioned en-suite bungalows. All units are equipped with utensils and several have kitchenettes with sink. However, field kitchens are conveniently placed nearby for continuous boiling water. Tariffs range from R4,500 to R4,200 per person, depending on accommodation preference and availability. We regret that in all types of accommodation, single guests will be charged the full double tariff.
Due to the enormous demand and limited accommodation, reservations can only be secured upon payment into our bank account, SANParks Honorary Rangers Johannesburg Region, Standard Bank, Fordsburg, Code 005205, account no 002527693 and the deposit slip faxed to me. Therefore, a “first-come-first-serve” policy will apply. Kindly E-mail me the type of accommodation you prefer and the number of people in your group. A cancellation fee up to 30 days before the event will be 15% thereafter the full fee will be forfeited.
All proceeds, after costs, will be utilised for the procurement of essential equipment for the Rangers and Counter Poaching teams in all of our National Parks.
