SANParks Hosts Animal Auction
South African National Parks (SANParks) will auction 40 animals this Saturday (October 14, 2006) in Pretoria.
The animals that will come under the hammer include 20 White Rhinoceros Ceratotherium simun, presently kept in the Skukuza Bomas, and 20 KNP genetic disease-free Buffalo Syncerus caffer, presently kept in the bomas in Kimberley.
Funds raised from the sale will be put into the SANParks Park Development Fund and used for any future land purchases.
Bidding will begin at around 11:00 and it will take place in the Boardroom at SANParks Head Office, Leyd Street, Pretoria.
Over the past year, SANParks has raised roughly R9-million with around 80 animals (of various species) sold.
