KOEDOE

Research Journal of South African National Parks

Koedoe is a South African based journal, published by the South African National Parks (SANParks) in the interest of global conservation. The journal publishes papers on a wide range of themes and from a wide range of ecosystems, with a focus on protected areas. For readers, the journal provides specific, topical and applicable knowledge to the field of conservation biology and protected areas management.

Koedoe is listed as an approved journal by the South African National Department of Education.

The (then) National Parks Board has published Koedoe annually (now biannually) since 1958. Its first objective is the publication of original papers concerned with the perpetuation of wildlife and the conservation of biological and associated natural resources. It is also concerned with the diversity of flora and fauna and their habitats encountered in southern Africa and with the ever-changing and increasing effects of man on a fragile, sensitive, and evolving biosphere.

The substance of the journal is applied to the development of concepts pertaining to nature conservation and is of pertinence to universities, research institutes, and reference libraries, while the application of the research results is of relevance to all whose concern is the management and wise use of protected areas.
