Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park
Help Purchase a Webcam for the Kgalagadi
Due to the overwhelming popularity of the Satara web cam in Kruger National Park, SANParks would love to add more cameras to our website.
However as the cost of conservation management and habitat rehabilitation is a very expensive task and this is coupled with the financial responsibility for running multiple tourism plants etc. there is just no place in our budget for funding something that is surplus to our mandate, albeit a very popular complimentary facility.
Therefore, if we are to finance additional web cams, it will have to be through designated donation from private sources. If you are a regular visitor to this site and would like to see more web cam activity please consider donating funds for this purpose.
About the proposed Nossob Cam
The dramatic beauty of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier park is the stunning backdrop to herds of gemsbok, springbok, eland and blue wildebeest, and huge black-maned lions, leopard, hyaena, cheetah, and many raptors...The red sand dunes, sparse vegetation and the dry riverbeds of the Nossob and Auob show antelope and predator species off to spectacualr advantage and provide excellent sighting opportunities.
The camera will overlook the Nossob Camp waterhole, thus negating any serious environmental intrusion from a cam. As the area is so dry, the waterhole is a focal point for the area’s wildlife. It is believed that positioning a web cam here will be very rewarding and give people insight into an alternative South African habitat to Kruger’s bushveld.
