Clarens, the Freestate winner in Town of the Year competition!
Date: 2012-07-13
Golden Gate Highlands National Park is collaborating with Clarens in an effort to win the national title as Town of the Year, which will benefit the park greatly.
A town qualifies for the Kwêla and Rapport Town of the Year competition if the number of inhabitants is less than 500,000 and provided the town or suburb does not fall within a metropolitan area.
Clarens was already announced as the winner of the provincial competition with the help of the park and will be competing for the main title against the winning towns from the other provinces.
Once the winning town of each of the regions has been announced, the public will get the opportunity to vote via SMS for the Town of the Year in the final round.
At the end of the final round the town with the most votes will be announced as the Kwêla and Rapport Town of the Year. The closing date for the final round is Tuesday, August 7 at 12:00 noon.
The winning town will receive R1 million worth of marketing and advertising from kykNET and Rapport respectively.
