Media Release: Heaviest snowfall in six years in Golden Gate

Golden Gate Highlands National Park, managed by South African National Parks is covered in a blanket of snow and it is continuing to fall. According to Gerrit Potgieter, Hotel Manager: Golden Gate and Chalets, “this is the heaviest snowfall we have seen since 2006. The snow is continuing to fall and is really thick.”

Fire Management Programme at Golden Gate

Golden Gate Highlands National Park has been busy implementing its 2006 Fire Management Programme over the past few weeks. This involves securing fire breaks early in the burning season to prevent accidental fires that are initiated outside the park from causing damage within the park.
