ABI minimising loss of threatened natural habitats
Date: 2009-03-20
The Agulhas Biodiversity Initiati2ve (ABI) is one of several landscape initiatives in the Cape Floristic Region that integrates and coordinates efforts to minimise the further loss of threatened natural habitat on the Agulhas Plain.
SANParks currently hosts the ABI coordination unit, and provides support to build lasting partnerships between those involved – conservation agencies, landowners, community leaders, municipalities, national and provincial government departments, non-governmental organisations and other interested parties.
ABI is implemented by a number of partners who have agreed to work together and pool their resources to conserve biodiversity and ecosystems on the Agulhas Plain.
