PPP Investment Opportunity: Request for Proposals are issued by South African National Parks in respect of the Restaurant Opportunities in the Kruger National Park, Addo Elephant National Park and Tsitsikamma Section of the Garden Route National Park as well as Restaurant and Retail Opportunities in the Mountain Zebra National Park and Karoo National Park - BID 4/11/1/2/59-12

In line with SANParks’ Strategic Plan for Commercialisation, SANParks intends to form a Public Private Partnership (PPP) in which it gives selected private parties the rights to the commercial operation of restaurant and retail facilities in National Parks. Opportunities are packaged into several Bid Packages which is outlined below.

SANParks invites prospective investors and operators to submit detailed bids in line with SANParks’ mandate and objectives for this PPP opportunity. The following Bid Packages form part of the opportunity:

Restaurants in the Kruger National Park (KNP):

Franchised Brands in the KNP:
Bid Package 2.1: Skukuza Main restaurant
Bid Package 2.2: Skukuza Take Away section
Bid Package 2.3: Lower Sabie
Bid Package 2.4: Satara
Bid Package 2.5: Olifants
Bid Package 2.6: Letaba

Non-franchised or Franchised Brands in the KNP:
Bid Package 2.7: Berg en Dal (including conference catering)
Bid Package 2.8: Pretoriuskop
Bid Package 2.9: Selati
Bid Package 2.10: Shingwedzi
Bid Package 2.11: Punda Maria

Other Franchised Brands:
Bid Package 5: Restaurant in the Tsitsikamma Section of the Garden Route National Park
Bid Package 6: Restaurant in the Addo Elephant National Park

Other Non-franchised or Franchised Brands:
Bid Package 7: Restaurant and retail in the Mountain Zebra National Park
Bid Package 10: Restaurant and retail in the Karoo National Park

Interested parties will be expected to meet certain minimum criteria in order to qualify.

SANParks will enter into a PPP agreement with the winning bidder (in case of Franchised Brands, with the franchisee) for a period likely to provide a fair return on investment for the Private Party. In return, the Private Party will meet agreed operating, development, refurbishment, maintenance, broad-based black economic empowerment (BEE) and environmental obligations, and pay a PPP fee to SANParks.
