Our People

Although the Honorary Rangers are individuals, for practical purposes to enable us to meet regularly and operate collectively in parks, we function in 30 different Regions around the country. Subject to sufficient enthusiastic people, more regions may yet emerge. Most regions also have associated Junior Honorary Rangers ranks.

Several National Projects teams transcend all regions but enable a collective front on certain important initiatives such as alien-invader combat, counter-poaching etc. The National Training Committee regulates and monitors the orientation courses (both compulsory and optional) necessary to become an Honorary Ranger.

Every year, the various regions vote to elect the National Executive Committee that engages closely with SANParks and oversees the activities of the Honorary Rangers nationwide.
