Play golf for conservation
The Honorary Rangers of the Addo Elephant National Park are organising their 5th Annual Golf Day on Thursday, 20 May 2010 at the Port Elizabeth Golf Club in Port Elizabeth. All funds raised will assist towards the further improvement of facilities and conservation support work at Addo Elephant National Park, the key tourism destination in the Eastern Cape.
Addo Elephant National Park, situated only 72 kilometres from Port Elizabeth conserves the “Big 7”, including Southern right whales and great white sharks. The Park now covers over 168 000 hectares, stretching from the Karoo near Somerset East crossing the Zuurberg Mountains to the coast between Sundays River and Bushmans River Mouth, and also includes Bird Island and the St Croix Island group. The Park offers visitors a wide range of accommodation and eco-activities.
Funds raised by the Honorary Ranger’s Golf Day will enable the Park to fund research as well as the upgrade of facilities for the benefit of all visitors to this wonderful conservation area. The funds, which were raised over the past fours years have been used to build the new entrance gate at the Park’s main camp.
There are prizes of luxury accommodation at River Bend Lodge, Nguni River Lodge and Gorah Elephant Camp, both situated within the Addo Elephant National Park. In keeping with the “Wild” theme of the golf day, venison will be served at the prize-giving and golfers are encouraged to dress “Safari” style to compete for the best dressed team.
Companies and individuals are invited to enter a 4-ball at R1 200 per team and/or sponsor a tee or green for slightly less. Here is your opportunity to associate your company (or yourself) with the conservation efforts of the Addo Elephant National Park. As always, donations of prizes are also very welcome.
