Honorary Rangers
Sunset Serenade
11th – 15th May 2005 – A 4-night special treat at Olifants Camp
The Honorary Rangers of the Counter Poaching & Ranger Support Services Unit of South African National Parks, invite you to join us for an extended weekend of music near Olifants, the most picturesque camp in the Kruger Park, from 11th May and departing on 15th May 2005. Wednesday 11th will be the settling in day and, to avoid rushing to camp before sunset, no activities will be planned. Guests may relax, meet up with old friends, enjoy a leisurely braai or book for a game drive at Reception. Classic FM’s Drive Time host, Mike Mills and his wife Sue will be our guests for the weekend and Mike will be broadcasting to Gauteng listeners from camp at 15h00.
On Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings we will depart from camp in open vehicles to magnificent sites with awesome river views to enjoy sundowners and listen to beautiful classical and light popular music played by musicians from the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra. All bush venues will be guarded by professionally trained field rangers.
Dinners will be served at the restaurant which overlooks the majestic Olifants River. During the evenings, guest speakers from the Park will enthrall you with tales of their experiences and invite you to ask any questions you may have regarding their specialised subjects.
We can accommodate you in 2 and 3-bed air-conditioned en-suite bungalows on the terraces and 2 and 3-bed bungalows either with a bush view or river view. A few units have kitchenettes, which includes crockery and cutlery but for bungalows without these facilities, there are kitchens dotted around the camp with washing up facilities, stoves and boiling water available 24 hours. These kitchens are often a social event as information is exchanged about what has been seen and can help you plan the day’s game drive. Tariffs range from R4,000 to R3,700 per person, depending on accommodation preference and availability. Limited single supplements will apply.
Due to the enormous demand and limited accommodation, reservations can only be secured upon payment into our bank account, SANParks Honorary Rangers Johannesburg Region, Standard Bank, Fordsburg, Code 005205, account no 002527693 and the deposit slip faxed to me. Therefore, a “first-come-first-serve” policy will apply. Kindly e-mail me the type of accommodation you prefer and the number of people in your group. A cancellation fee up to 30 days before the event will be 15% thereafter the full fee will be forfeited.
All proceeds, after costs, will be utilised for the procurement of essential equipment for the Rangers and Counter Poaching teams in all of our National Parks.
