Notice of Environmental Impact Assessment Process
Koeël Bay EIA Notice - Closing date: 30 March 2006
Notice is given in terms of Regulation 4(6) of the regulations published in Government Notice No. R1183 (as amended) under Section 26 of the Environment Conservation Act (Act No. 73 of 1989), of the intention of the proponent, Tintswalo Atlantic (Pty) Ltd, to carry out the following activity:
Establishment of a 24 bedded guest lodge and associated facilities at Koeël Bay, located on the lower side of Chapmans Peak Drive, immediately south of Hout Bay, within the Cape Peninsula Mountain National Park and within the concession area granted by SANParks.

Public Meeting
You are cordially invited to attend an open public meeting to be held on the Koeël Bay site, the purpose of which is to provide I&AP an opportunity to view the site, to receive information on the proposed activity and to make input and comments to the proposal.

Site Clean Up
The site has been unoccupied for a number of years and existing buildings and services have been vandalised and the access track has fallen into disrepair. Additionally the site has become a refuge for vagrants, poachers and drug abusers and for other forms of antisocial activity, resulting in health, safety and security and severe social problems on the site. The proponent has been given authorisation to clean up the site. It must be noted that this does not constitute commencing the development activity. Clean up will commence in April 2006.
