Crombec, I'm guessing Long-billed? Where did you see it?

At the Matambeni hide. And I suspect you are right. The picture in Newman is darker on top - but Roberts is nearer my picture. So thanks.

Long billed crombec. Have seen plenty of them in Satara, Berg-en-dal and on the bushman's trail in recent years. Very odd looking bird without the tail.

Last week I went to KNP with my parents and we travelled from the South to North and then back again. Before I do a trip report, could you please help me with a few bird IDs? Please click on the links for larger pix...
Date for all pix: 22-28 June 2008

Place: Sirheni Camp
Habitat: Foraging in the tree canopies.
Size: about 10cm
Long billed Crombec? (The upper belly colour as well as the head colour is confusing me :? )

Here is my two cents for what it is worth.

Only bird in Kruger with a "no tail" appearance. Long-billed Crombec.

Well done CS!

It is a Long-billed Crombec. It is the only small "tail less" bird in Kruger.
